Known as one of the best and most popular entertaining options in the USA, stand up comedy arrived a bit late in the Balkans. First people started watching and talking about American and West European comedians, then they started slowly accepting the idea of Balkan stand up. And it has been going pretty well since.
The stand up audience is growing bigger and bigger and the thirst for real live performing comedians is huge. There are now stand up clubs in several Balkan cities, such as The Comedy Club Sofia in Sofia, Bulgaria and Ben Akiba in Belgrade, Serbia.
Now stand up is a wanted comedy genre and not only is it popular, but it’s thriving. The audience is huge and more and more people are giving it a shot on the scene and some of them become real comedians and build up a career on it.
